Default No power after replacing solenoid

2006 Eiger

I got this bike from my neighbor. It was running earlier this year, but he said the solenoid went out. He's moving, I'm giving it a new home. So I pull the plastics while I'm waiting for the solenoid, put the battery on a charger and spray down the bike with the pressure washer.
Got new solenoid in, hooked it up and nothing. I have power to the solenoid and to the ignition switch but that's it. Tested ignition switch and it functions like it should, checked fuses and that's as far as I've gotten. No pilot lights, no headlights, nothing. What am I missing here? I was careful with the pressure washer to not hit anything sensitive but water could have gotten anywhere.

Thanks

Are you sure, certain, positive you have power going to ignition switch, as that also feeds power to lights so I don't see how you could be getting power to switch if you don't get lights. Most likely is you have fitted the new solenoid backwards, binding post with B next to it on solenoid goes to battery, binding post with M next to it goes to starter motor. If that is correct, have you checked the fuses in the fuse box are actually getting power to them from ignition switch?

I am certain I have power at switch. Here is what I found out. I finally had the genius idea to use a different battery and voila... everything works as should. So even though my battery reads 12.4 volts, somehow my bike doesn't like it?! Very strange, I have not seen this happen before...

More likely the battery terminals were not contacting properly. Have had this myself, note I did put power in bold on my first post. You can get 12.4v through a circuit and still virtually no power (watts). I use a high wattage test lamp as much as the voltmeter when circuit testing.

Oh the terminals were clean and tight. I have not tested the battery yet, but am certain it is shot. That makes sense what you're saying about power, just have not had a weak battery hold over 12v for days without dropping. Either way, glad to know it's an easy fix.
