I recently aquired a 2001 300ex which I hace posted some carb questions about and boughta 87' 250ex frame today less engine and swingarm. Question with the lt500 quadzilla being the fastest production quad ever made " debatablr of course" is there a big bore kit for this beast that is somewhat reliable, thinking 700exr hmmm, wider axle, a arms, longer swingarm. Any info as to the performace of this engine and big bore kit is appreciated.

Quadracer 500 had a steel cylinder liner, no question about it, it was borable and sleevable, but what the hell would you do with that much HP anyway. An 88 QR 500 had 56 HP stock, throw a pipe, porting, Rad valve, and maybe a Kehin 39 mm carb on it and you are putting out mid 60's HP, no problem.

THERE IS A COMPANY THAT CAN TAKE IT TO A 600CC UNIT BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND MY PAPER WORK ON THAT. I THINK I MIGHT HAVE BEEN DUNCAN RACING. YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL MY MAN JEFF TUDOR AND ASK HIM. YOU CAN FIND TUDORS PERFORMANCE AT WWW.QUADZILLATHON.COM. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH POWER, MY WOODS BIKE IS MAXED IN OPTIONS AND PULLING 70 PLUS PONIES. THE NEW ZILLA WILL BE ALCHOL WITH A TURBO PUSHING OVER 100 HAPPY LITTLE STALLIONS OF JOY OH HERE I COME DUMONT--LOL

Short of doing the Pike's Peak hill climb or racing up 200 foot high sand dunes all day, there is no where you could use more than 60 HP on a quad that weighs less than 400 pounds. My QR 250 is maybe putting out 35 HP and in the woods thats more than enough for any rider.
Before all guy's start coming back with if you were a good rider, yada yada yada, lets be real here, I have been riding for a long time and I am extreamly agrsessive, but the only place I even use all the HP I have is drag racing, even on the holeshot I have beaten QR 500's and Banshee's because they don't get enough traction out of the hole. I guess if you have your stem welded straight and don't race on a real track, and just drag race all day (Real skill there) you could use more than 60 HP. and the guy with the 85 QR, go buy an 88-92 QR if you need HP, and handling for that matter.

donpeter if your refering to me i would like you to know that my quad puts out about at least 30 horses. probably more like 32 or 33. and guess what. where i ride i could use way more than that. 60 horsepower might be a little much for what i ride but there are those adrenaline freaks out there who like to cruise around in the dunes all day doing more than just hill climbing and drag racing that like to have LOTS of hp comin from thier machine. i doubt u have ever been to the dunes you probably just ride in the trails around where you live and maybe some racing here and there. i really don't know but i'm guess thats about it. for what you do i'm sure thats great power. but there are some people who just want more so let em have it. its their money. as for the comment about my quad, that was unnecisary. my machine is just fine for me and if i had the money i'd probably have a better one! unfortunately i do not have the kind of money like some of the guys on this forum (cough cough birdofprey cough) although i wish i did. oh yeah and as soon as i get my rear shock back from being rebuilt my quad is being sold for 1,100 to a friend of mine. i'm gettin a 250r. i've been saving for 3 years to do this and its finally gonna happen.
