Take a ride on it. then you won't be asking if it is worth it. they have very good stock suspension. i've heard they hold up pretty good. they have the most HP of any stock quad and they are, what i think, the best quad for the dunes.

you will love it.

What is he asking for it? Is it in good shape? The LT500 can hold its own. The only time you may be disappointed is when you run out of gas because you were having too much fun roosting on your buddies who don't have 500s.

HEY SENECA PA, If you don't buy it I will and you are pretty close to me. Just make sure it is in good shape and doesn't need 300 bucks worth of bearings and seals. The factory suspension is some of the best ever put out. Lt500 has it true there your buddies will hate you for passing them with it.

Don't believe the myth about that one head stud, yes another head stud helped, but I have owned an 87 since 87 and currently have 2 and have never had a single blown head gasket. I do however check the torque on the head studs after every couple of rides. I also had the oversized studs installed the last time I rebuilt it just to be safe but they do this on the 88-90 models too. Like I said I have owned three of these 87's and not one ever blew a head gasket, but you got to check all the motor bolts from time to time. Chances are if you do blow alot of head gaskets then you have a warped head. I run very high compression and c-12 fuel on my woods bike and I use a copper head gasket which is blow proof and reusable, but you have to use 3bond 1104 sealant on it. the last time I redid it, I couldn't wait 12 hours for it to dry so I used a factory one and it has been fine for the last 6 months. Bottom line maintainance is the best policy, and it saves a pile of cash.
