I love my 2000 kingquad. It isn't the most powerful or the fastest but it is fun. i had at my friends house. He has a honda 450 with stock tires and a 400 with blackwaters. The king quad was the best in the snow there was no mud. Around here that is what just about everybody has. Most of the time when i ride this summer i ride the mojave.Once in a while i take the king Quad though. this Winter i will try the mojave Out in the snow for the first time. but i will most likely ride tdhe king quad. Just my 2 cents

Bill, John,
I haven't worked on a FJ but a typical single cylinder drum brake system has the wheel at the top and it's not adjustable. What is adjustable is the screw piece that John sort of described at the opposite end of the cylinder. This screw piece has a lever attached to a spring and when the lining gets worn down it will click to the next notch, spreading the shoes at the bottom. thus resulting in more lining surface touching the drum. Cars as well as my old F-150 had this setup. My new SD has 4 wheel disk all around thank goodness.
A quick look at bikebandit.com indicates to me that there is no bottom self adjusting screw on the KQ. So the shoes should wear out on the top (cylinder side) first since there is no adjustment on the bottom side. My thinking also is confirmed be the brakes I recently changed out on an '86 trx125.
Bill I'm agreeing with you so please be kind.
