MELTED QUADRACER PISTON
#1
Just need some info on what went wrong.
Went to Silver Lake this past weekend, and was drag racing and hill climbing for 2 days. On the third day, I was crusing around and as i down the last hill, my suzuki died.
Found out i melted the piston on the exhaust side above the first ring.
I want to know what you guys think went wrong.
Was running a tad rich.(i kept an eye on the plug)
Custom air box(no way sand could get in)
No leaks
Could float height been a factor? If i would suck all the gas out of the bowl before it could refill.
Or was the main just too lean? I have a 195 main in it. (does Kehin have any bigger than a 200)?
When I would drag race it sometimes would cut out around 5th gear pinned, then i would slow down.
Thanks alot guys. Derek

Sounds like crank seals, It will seem rich at idle but once under power it sucks in air around the seals making it lean. Going down the hill if you was off the throttle it creates a high vacuum condition in the base causing it to suck air by the seals. This is a very common problem.
