Vinson

I really like the looks of the new Suzuki Vinson,I'm looking to buy a new quad this fall and it's going to be either the Vinson or the Arctic Cat 500i.I'm a big fan of the Suzuki 500cc motors, they arent the fastest things around but they are tuff and hard to beat in my book. Also i like the fact that the Vinson is about 65lbs. lighter than the A/C. What do you guys think?....Do you think the Vinson will be a good quality machine?

Just a note on speed... I don't know about the Vinson, but the new 2002 Arctic Cats are geared higher so there is an improvement in the speed department. Also I have heard that the mufflers have increased airflow, also boosting the 'big Cat's' speed. Perhaps Suzuki did the same with the new machines.

I think the Suzuki is lighter because it has a swingarm and not independent rear suspension like the AC. I could be wrong though.

I saw one in person today for the first time. This machine in my opinion is the best looking 4X4 made! Period! It is just a great looking Machine. The new Honda has been said to resemble the Vinson. Bologna! The Rincon is ugly end of comparison. If Suzuki would have kept the diff lock this would be my 4by of choice.

After reading a bunch about the Vinson on the internet I decided to go and check one out today, as I'm going to be buying a new quad this fall. It sounded pretty impressive, and the price is pretty good.
However, for my purposes, it looks too fragile. Too much plastic to break, no way to lift on teh front when it's stuck, and, in short, it just doesn't look like it's meant for hard work.
The '01 AC looks rugged, and built to last, but it's 165lbs heavier then my current quad (Wolverine), so as much as I think it would be good for work, I can't imagine that it would be much fun for play.
So, I think the Kodiak remains the best choice for a dual-purpose, mid-priced quad.
