rear shock on lt250r

When my 87 lt250r is just sitting there and you lift it up there is like 4 inches of play.. Why is this,, what can i do so there is no or less play in it.. Thanks for any help you can give..

Sounds like the shock isbad. You can get it revalved for under $100 at ShockTherapyRacing,com they are in Durand, MI
They put in a new valve, seal, oil and nitrogen,Mine islike brand new. If you weigh more than 160 lbs, you might want to get a new spring.

where can I get a new spring from,, how much does one cost,, I weigh 170 lbs if that's any help... thanks alot

You can also adgust the preload on the shock to take some of the sag out of it, but if your shock is 14 years old and has never been rebuilt its worth having the seals,oil ans nitrogen changed, and Suzuki dealer can do that for aroung $90.00
