the smoke is grey and it does it mostly on start up, it smokes a little after warm up but not much. ive been told by many people that have owned these quads for years that they are known for smoking a little all the time. ive got more problems now. i hit a log riding sunday and broke my shifter linkage so now have to engineer something to fix that. if it aint one thing its another, sure wish i could afford a new quad . went and looked at new ones last week and two days later the air went out on the old ladys mini-van, so there went my down payment money for the new quad , 800 bucks to have the air fixed. just have to band-aid the old quad sport a little longer.

to replace the whole shifter, go to the dealer and buy a moose folding shifter for a RM125, im not sure which year, the shifter bolts right onto the shift shaft and replaces te whole linkage deal. there about 30 dollars and work great, i have 1 on my quadsport and 1 on my RM. it might tke a little getting used to the new shifter because its a little shorter but i like it alot better then the linkage. and why do you people keep quoting each other, its pretty stupid

you talking about the moose brand, like handlebars and other accesories for quads and bikes? if that will work that would be great, that linkage mess gets real loose and sloppy after a while. i already had to drill out the shifter shaft hole and weld another shaft to the foot peg. ill call my dealer and see if he can help. youn say its a folding shift lever. thanks for the info.

See if your dealer will do a simple leakdown test for you. If you have any kind of relationship with him he ought to do it for free. That way you can check for bad rings, worn crank bearings and bad valve seating all at the same time without tearing everything down first.
