I can't help but think that the new quadsport was named that for a reason. My guess is Suzuki has a Quadracer or two on the horizon. The quadracer would probably be a larger engined version of the 400 (450 or 500) with the Keihin FCR39 carb, kick start, no reverse, etc. I would also guess a Quadsport 250 will be released with an engine based on the DRZ-250 dirtbike. My next guess is that a big bore quadsport will be released to compete with the raptor. I am sick of hearing everyone compare the new Suzuki to the raptor and cannondale. The Raptor is not in the same class. Granted it is the same type of quad but it is a big bore. Also, the Cannondale is a full out race quad. The Suzuki Quadsport Z400 is more of a trail quad. I really think we need to classify sport quads in two categories like they do with snowmobiles. 1. High Performance - seriously powerful, lightweight machines usually without reverse and suspension meant for motocross style riding. (So far only Cannondale and the Banshee but I think we will see more.) 2. Trail Performance - also powerful, lightweight quads, with more comfortable suspensions, reverse gear, and more rider friendly features. (New Suzuki, Mojave, Warrior, Raptor etc.) The problem is right now a lot of these quads fall into both categories. I wish the manufacturers would make it easier to differentiate by offering one quad that is ultra lightweight with a close-ratio tranny, high-pressure-gas shocks, no reverse, no electric start, not much ground clearance, etc. (High performance.) Then offer a similar quad with a more workable powerband, semi-wide-ratio tranny, electric start, reverse, more ground clearance, and low pressure gas shocks for more comfort. (Hydraulic shocks should be saved for kiddy quads. It's about time the manufacturers did what snowmobiles have done for years using almost exclusively gas shocks.) These would be the trail performance quads. Just my thoughts.

PS - did anyone else notice that the light setup on the new Quadsport resembles the grille on the 85-92 Quadracer 250's? I don't think this is a coincidence and it is a nice touch.

For a second i thought abou that possibility. But seems to me Quadsport were 4-strokes, Quadracers are 2-strokes. Maybe im wrong cause i dont know much about suzuki quad history, but i sure hope your right. And about classifing(sp) them, i think its a good idea.

The Quadracer was dropped with Zilla and LT250r. The name was dropped because it implied the machine was an all-out high performance machine and the government was cracking down on the "unsafe" machines. The ATV industry has finally gotten into a position where they feel it is safe to promote sport machines again. Suzuki is not going to bring back the name "Quadracer" and stir-up old debate. In realitty this is a quadracer in the bandwagon four-stroke form (Isn't the Sportrax 400 EX really in the same league as a Quadsport 400z?). Just be happy that they are making an attempt at these sport models again. Suzuki was the original, but they never were the best. Hopeflly when they released this model, they didn't forget to do the research. It was first dated to be released as a 2004 model in early 2003. Remember the early Quadracer problems?

I thought this new Z400 would be along the same lines as Doug Gust's racer minus a few hi-po parts. I guess I was wrong. Maybe they'll come out with a big-bore something.

I just have one thing to say, I agree that the Cannondale is a MX type quad, but the Banshee? I don't think so. With the suspension on that you try going over a motorcross jump and see if it doesn't buck you into the next country.

yah i agree with you about the banshee. after I wrote it I realized it wasn't right. the 400ex is more of a mxer than the banshee.

I think it looks pretty cool I just wonder how much it will cost.even if it costs top dollar alot of guys are gonna still be buying raptors and banshees and roosting all over these mega buck machines any way,Any 1 that says a Banshee cant beat these things are on crack,my Shee has T5s jetting and now makes probably close to 55 hps,Toomey claims 17 hps from pipes so my 38 hp shee is now 55 hp tell me how many 4 strokes can makes these claims w just pipes. Its about time suzuki got on the bandwagon tho for sport quads.I know alot of us are disappointed becuase we didnt get a 2 stroke and I am a big 2 stroke freak w a banshee and kdx 220 and I will keep them being I never rode a 4 banger and probably will never get a chance to whos gonna let ya test a new machine anyways?I could care less ,my bet is we should be complaining to the epa and not the big 4 but hey forget epa for now, theres a half way easy fix but it might not be cheap, buy quad take out 400 ,buy a rm 250 motor, measure and weld gussets if needed bolt in motor and walla you guys have yourself a 2002 quadracer 250,lol I love daydreaming at work and the irony of it all,god nothing like the fresh smell of pre mix to wake ya up in the morning, ahhhh How refreshing well happy roosting
