Just a small post. I'm a little hacked off. I live on a farm that encompasses both sides of the road. If I want to get to the other side, well I have to cross the road. I have done this several times in the past without any problems....until today. I had the idea of riding the old Quadzilla across the street and over to the sandpits. I put on my brain bucket and rode out to the street and looked both ways before I crossed. I noticed a Jeep Cherokee sitting across the street in an old driveway but thought nothing of it. When I crossed, however; he hit the siren and pulled up beside me. He said, "You look old enough to know better". "About what?" I said. "About crossing the highway on an atv". I told him that I had to cross the road to get to the other side to which he said, no I didn't. It was against the law, not to mention dangerous. I told him that it wasn't dangerous for me, that I wasn't going to play in the road, just cross it. He told me that I'd have to push it across. I asked him if he didn't think that was a little more dangerous than riding it across since the bike wouldn't be running and I'd be on foot? He then told me that laws were laws but that he wasn't gonna write me a ticket this time. He didn't know it, but I wasn't planning on accepting a ticket from some guy without a cop car or a badge or a uniform. So he said "Don't let me catch you out here again". Damn, that crap pisses me off. As if there isn't some real crime going on somewhere else. I'll never push my wheeler across the road, ever. If I tried that with the Prairie, I'd get a hernia. Well,I guess it could have been worse.

That is pretty ****. What gets me is the kids who just rip around the roads like it is their personal track. If I am a rider and it gets om my nerves, I know my neighbors must be P. O.d. Most of the cops around here are pretty cool. I have been stopped twice for riding and they just told me to go where their cop cars couldn't go.

I'd build a take off and landing ramp on both sides of the road, then I wonder if it would be against the law to cross. You wouldn't ever be on the pavement hee hee.. To get to one place I've always rode at, when I'm testing out something tires, pipe ect. I accualy cross the dang interstate! Well it isn't realy an interstate (Hwy. 63) future I555. I guess when they make it I555 I'll have to load my quad in my truck and haul it. All though I already have the perfect take off ramp (steep rail road crossing) I'd only have to build something on the other side. HA! Just kidding.

slinger; It hurts me to see another quadaholic getting lectured by a cop that has more important things to do. Next time you see Barney Fife....smoke his beef jerky!!!! Long live quads!!!!! By the way slinger; let me know when your in my area so we can hook-up & do some riding.

I hear ya slinger, I usually have to talk to a cop about once a week because I go down the road to my friends house, but 2 or 3 cops have already said that I can't get in any trouble for it cause I stay on the side of the road and the roads around here a cinder. I really hate it when some of the POPO's don't believe it when you tell then 2 officers have already said I can ride down the side of the road slow and not get in trouble.

Around where I live there is trails everywhere, but you got to cross an occasional gravel road to get to them. When one of my friends was cop in town I had nothing to worry about. Now we have a guy that wants to prove he a big bad cop. One guy lead him on a 15 mile chase on a Warrior, it was hillarious.(1 AM in the morning on gravel roads)
If the cop chases us around here we just shoot off into the woods where they can't follow.

Slinger, Not sure about U.S. law but if both pieces of this farm belongs to you, you should be allowed to cross to do some work on the other side of your farm. What do they expect?? Do they want you to push your Massey Fergusson across to the other side??? What a joke!!! Here in Ontario the government is working on "Bill 11" which will allow atv riders to ride on gravel roads to access the local lodges and restaurants (who depend on snowmobiles business) to help them stay in business during the summer. Of course there will be laws and regulations (i.e. brake, signal lights speed limits etc...) If this goes thru it's gonna be fantastic. Who needs speed limits? I'd like to see the cop who's gonna catch a 500cc yellow screaming monster down some winding bush road!!!

wow, that sucks. My freinds just gun it when the cops follow them and then they can just hop in to the sand pits and the cops have absolutely no way of following them.

CdaleRacer, you have given me an idea. As of tomorrow I'm gonna build me a ramp and just jump the road. I've noticed that buttlick sittin' there a couple of times before, maybe he'll see me fly by.

Maxima, where's Baldwin?

As for hittin' the woods and leaving him in my dust, he saw me come out of my driveway and unfortunately There ain't many Quadzillas around here. That's what I had planned if he flashed a ticket book, however.
