Check the frame for cracks by the front shocks top mounts and around the footpegs. also check out the swingarm for cracks. I have an `86 Racer and mine has been fixed buy the shock mounts and the swingarm by the pinch bolts has been welded. I just bought another frame this weekend and am going to do some gusseting then sandblast and probably powdercoat it. then do a weekend swapover from the original. The 86/86 doesn't have the powervalve and the reeds are in the cylender bace, but, are very good quads and very reliable. I have alot of mods done to mine and it ripps. For the price your freind is asking you can't go wrong.

You really don't need a new frame, as that won't fix the problem. You can have the frame welded and gusseted to strengthen it. I bought another used frame this past weekend so I could keep riding mine while I have the other one worked over and then maybe powdercoated. After I got the used one home and did a very colse comparison I found it to be in worse shape than I thought. I'm not shure if I will use it or not. I will have it sand blasted and realy check it over before I make my final decision. If you do go with another frame you really need to look it over. I found some of the mounts either cut off or stripped and bolts welded in. I'm shure a new one frome Suzuki would be very expensive, Then it will still have the same week areas.

yeah, it would be expensive, unless you had access to materials for discount or free from work like I find myself sometimes. And as long as you had a TIG or ARC welder, plenty free time, knowledge and experience...

it's fun and gets ya dang fast real quick!

According to Bike Bandit you can still get a frame for the 85/86 quadracers. A frame for a LT250R(F/G) will cost $816.05. I'm glad I found a straight used one for $80 and it had a straight steering shaft in it.
