Can this be the worst day??

We boys and girls, had my first chance to show my newly restored zilla off at a racetrack about 2.5 hours drive south of my place. We got to the Harvey shortcourse track about 12 and started setting up. I went for a breif ride on the zilla and she sounded fine. We were set to go on the track for practice at 2 so i started getting ready and i tried to start the zila to warm her up. Nothing....kick kick kick....nothing. quickly took out the plug...black....covered with oily ****!. Not happy! cleaned it and tried again....same thing! got a new sparky. checked for a spark first and it was very very dim. put it in anyway...nothing. both plugs came back out with thick oily black stuff on them. Not happy at all!! missed both practice sessions, and the first race. Now i was really peeved. After about 2 hours of fiddling, i decided it simply wasnt my day. I packed up the gear and drove outa there with my head hung low. The next day i got up, and started pulling it apart to find wat the hell went wrong. I couldnt beleive it. I had the Air screw set way wrong, and the two spark plugs i used were both stuffed and the plug cap was busted too! I put on a spare one i had from my Karting days and tested the spark with a karting plug and it was really bright! Gee was i annoyed! Well at least I found the problem myself. Hopefully I'll go a bit better next time i try to start my racing career!! hehe Next time ill have a killer story of triumph hehe

nuh no hair lose this time. ive been racing since i was 9 yo in karts etc so im used to this kind of bad stuff. still doesnt get any easier. To drown my sorrows i downed a bottle of Cougar when i got home hehe. I have started the bike yet. i dont have any good plugs left so im picking some up tonite. but im starting around the 1-1.5 turns out from closed. it used to run at 1 turn with the 360 jet but the problems started when i changed back to the 380 mainjet to be safe!... buggar hehe

Zilla, the best thing to do is go down to SAVAGE SUZUKI in Midland and trade in the old girl on a LTZ400 asap. ONLY JOKING but if you do keep having problems take it to Midland honda, they have a dyno that i think they can put quads on. GOOD LUCK.

Hey joedif.... were you at the races dude? you would have seen the lt500 win every 2 stroke race by half the straight. thats why i cant sell her. Ive heard about the dyno in midland. im gona try to get it running again myself and sort out the carby. but ill definately be up at the dyno before the next event. I get my engine work done at wanneroo mc cause the mechanic there is very good and he is very very cheap! ive seen some of his work and its top notch. we get both our lt's done there. so where abouts are you located? where do u ride? are u looking to get the z400 huh?
oh btw.....ive got a 98 Banshee for sale dirt cheap if your interested

Hey zilla, good to see a west aussie here, at the moment i have no quad but have ordered a LTZ400 from savages, they said it will be here at the end of march (can,t wait). I ride all over the place Lancelin, nangers, wanneroo, down albany and up at dongara etc. I to had a quadzilla and use to race it MX back in the early 90s ,we did all the state rounds of the MX season and a little grass track racing like the osborne park show, we even done three nights of ice racing in the mirrabooka ice skatting place (that was fun).We use to have trouble back those days trying to get the numbers to race, we needed at least 6 at club meets and 8 at state rounds, and because back then you could only buy quadracers here and not banshees it got hard after 91 when we did not get any more new quads, the racing died. I see now the racing has started again because of all the new machines available but i have had no involvment. My LT500 gave me no problems only a couple of blown base gaskets (no big deal) it was a good quad for racing you could holeshot it of the line and leave the rest behind (exept other lt500s) it was good. Anyway when i get this new quad we should go roost some rangers, i live out INNALOO.
Where do you roost?:

Hey joedif. yeah your the first west aussie ive seen on here too. Do have any idea what the price is for the z400? I have a good mate whos currently looking to buy a new quad.
Hey man you have to come down to see the racing! last mx i saw 12-15 bikes at AJS, and last weekend at harvey, we werent expecting much but 43 bikes turned up (including about 8 kids). Was a very very good turnout! heaps of banshee's 400ex's and warriors (5 of those!) and two lt500's (including mine), some husky, 1 250r (awesome bike!), and a few lt250r's and others. The racing was top notch eh. it killed me to be stuck on the side lines. great to see that the sport is taking off in a big big way hey.
Well i usually ride up at wanneroo pines. I live in Iluka (near joondalup) so its the closest. otherwise theres the quarry at gnanga's (bit illegal but great fun), and lancelin (havent had the 500 there yet only the banshee). Im still looking for great places to ride. Currently we have four bikes that go out as in my signature. My mate is still looking for a bike. And sure buddy, im always up for roosting rangers haha. i got stopped one time in gnanga's cause some tree huggin group were having lunch in the middle of the bush and i went flying past. the ranger told me to take it easy. i just said to the ranger 'tell them to take the tea party home'. Even the ranger told me that gnanga's is a designated riding area!! they even complained about the noise! haha bloody tree huggers. their a complete waste of space!
well enough of me wasting keystrokes on them.....as for the banshee.... its a 98, brand new dominator rubber on back new front max on front, um boyson reeds, new wiseco prolite piston kit, new chain and front sprocket (13t i think).its in really great shape hey. im asking $5500 (australian) but id go to around $5000. Ive seen some very nasty banshees sell over here for $5000 so mines priced right i think. Anyone wanna ship it? hehe
Anyway thats enough from me. Also i found the problem with the LT500 at the racing. Busted plug cap (crap spark) also the plugs themselves werent the best. bought a new cap and new plug and it started first time. i had also gone the wrong way when i changed the needle jet. now she runs sweet. Later

Zilla , when i asked the bike shop how much the LTZ400 was going to be he said it will be about the same price as a 400EX that are about $11,500 or there abouts. I cant wait for my new bike, just seeing a new performance quad back at suzuki dealers brings back good memories for me, i remember tho old days when driving past savage suzuki and seeing 3 500 quadracers and 3 250 quadracers across the front of the shop waiting for new homes.
Is the other guy with the 500 that races name is Craig and president of the quad club? If it is i know him very well. I will start going to the races and will catch up with you there, but the season would be over now till after xmas i guess, anyway its good talking to you and keep roosting those ranger idiots
