LT250R's

Way, way, waayyyyyyyy back when I had my TBlazer, I would run my mouth to all the stupid crybaby whiny assed people that all they do is sit around and say "my bone stock sport quad will beat anything, even if it is modded..blah blah, ain't nothin gonna beat my stock quad, its the best, or Yamaha/Suzuki/Honda wouldn't have made it...blah blah, my stock quad will outrun a 120mph car blah blah, your atv isn't the same brand as mine, it must suck, blah blah, my stocker is the fastest and best quad ever...its the best ATV in the whole wide world and blah blah, I'm gonna get a pipe and then nothin will stand a chance on my stock quad with its pipe...blah blah, your brand sucks, because, because, uh, I don't own that brand....." on this forum (Polaris owners get kinda defensive), and after I got rid of the TBlazer, I really didn't pay to much attention to this place, until I got my 'Zilla, then I stuck around in the Suzuki Forums for awhile, but now that I'm venturing out into the rest of the ATV world at atvconnection.com, I'm noticing ain't nobody around here seems to have changed, so why the hell should I? Besides, bickering makes things more interesting.....see the number of views on "The new Z400 from the horses mouth" thread? Because most people like to go in and laugh at everyone arguing and stuff, and I myself like to sit back after I've started something and really laugh(can you say "INSTIGATOR"?)so, uh, yeah.......

The wheight difference is quite-a-bit. According to Yamaha's web-page the Raptor weighs 398lbs and my Quadracer according to Suzuki weighs 293lbs for a 105lbs difference. That is alot of weight to try to throw around on the track or in the woods on a gnarly tight trail, don't you think? one other thing I like about a 2-stroke is the ease of building power, little things even show good power gains.

I am pretty happy with the power and over all performance of my 89 LT250R. A couple things I absolutely hate about the LT is the frame, the front end needs to be racked and it needs to be narrowed. The swingarm 87-92 is a pain. I like the way the quad feels and how it sits low compared to a Honda. The power of the LT motor is really strong and it pulls from bottom to top. It is a lot better with a aftermarket pipe and silencer. One thing I recomend to everyone is to get rid of the stock air box. They are hard to get a K&N filter in and out of and they don't seal the greatest. Get a clamp on K&N filter and outerwears it looks alot better and seals alot better. For MX use I can't believe how much a wider axle helped in cornering and stability. On the 87-92 LT's they come with the "T" style seat, it feels comfortable in most situations but when you are doing a lot of cornering get a 85-86 straight style seat it is alot easier on the bum. Another thing I like about the LT is it has the easiest clutch pull especially since I put on the easy pull clutch arm, easy pull clutch lever, one problem with the longer clutch arm is that it puts more stress on where you adjust the clutch on the case and it will eventually break off so you need to purchase the case saver also. Also if your shocks are constantly bottoming out get the rear rebuilt or get a new one. Replace the fronts also. B/c eventually things start to bend, crack and break and you have worse problems on your hands besides just your shocks.
Currently my LT is in pieces completely down to the bare frame for a frame up rebuild. A crack seal went out and leaned out my mixture melting my piston. It is going to get a new sleeve to a 300, rebuild the crank all new seals, clutch basket, and clutch. The motor lasted 10 years un touched so I am very happy with the reliablity of the Suzuki. The frame is getting completely redone along with a-arms and new swingarm which will be using the 85-86 tapered bearing carrier.
I am pretty excited to see what the new Suzuki LT400Z will do.

I own a '91 and a '88 lt250r (and spare '90 engine that is currently in the '88) and love them both. Both have K&N filters and went in easy for me so I don't think you need to replace the airbox. They are great bikes and very reliable even when modified. It's too bad I have to sell my '91 but I really want that Z400. Atleast I'll still have one 2-stroke.
