Also what years did they make a KQ, now im looking into used ones. Gonna save up some money once im done building my current project(a 86 toyota)www.cyberautoworld.com/muddog
Whats a good price on a used one? And what is "A lot" of miles?

I have no idea what a good price would be for a used quad but Mark, makes some good points about the lack of power and gas gage. I usually am aware of gas usage but it would be nice to have an idiot gage to look at from time to time. I own a King Quad and I (for an old guy) can jump whoops with the best of them. I think my suspension works very well. If I were a first time buyer "would I purchase a Suzuki 250 or 300?" Yes, I would still buy a KQ for it's ability to move out of a trench, over logs, through mud and water and still plow snow in winter. I'd like to add to Mark's remarks (not a pun) something else I dislike: The rear braking system is a joke. I'm so tired of cleaning the rear drum of debris, I'm thinking of just eleminating it all together. I can't chance riding in winter, through deep water for fear of ice forming in the drum which will cause damage to the mechanical brake. Sometimes it can't be helped and you have to bite the bullet and go through the deep stuff anyway. My brother has a Quad Runner 250 2X4 and it''s a lot of fun. But he later bought a Honda 450. Now he's happy. You make the call...

Nick,
I'm from way up on the other side of BF egypt,Brasher Falls if you ever heard of it,about 165 miles north of Syracuse and about 12 miles from the Adirondack Park. The closest I've been to Rochester was Newark one time. They have making KQ300's since 1991 I beleive.Up here you can buy a '99 or '00 for about 3500.00 to 4000.00 range in very good shape,I'm sure in the area your in prices are probably higher. As far as mileage,I've seen them around here with 5to7k onthem and still running good.Just like anything else,if they have been maintained properly, they last a long time. There design has been proven reliable for a long time and the rear drum on the 2000 and 2001 is a better design than previous models as far as water getting in.
