I have a LT250R Quadracer and whenever I go to my local dealer/motorsports store and ask for a plug, they give me a B9EGV. I came across a refence sheet on the Nac Racing web-site and it says the correct plug size is B8EGV. Does anyone know what the difference is? Which one is right? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Jaxin..

I use the BR9's as well, from what I'm told the only difference in the plugs is that one burns hotter than the other. I think the BR8 is a colder burning plug, but I might have that backwards.

Stick with what works for you!!!

Yea, that's right, the lower the number the colder. If you do a lot of trail ridng then the 9 series plug will do better, because it burns hotter and is less prone to fouling.

THAT IS INCORRECT, EVERY SPARK PLUG GETS HOTTER AS THE NUMBER GETS HIGHER !!EXCEPT!! NGK! A B8ES is a hotter plug than a B9ES. I just read Honda manual for 400EX, says use a DPR8Z OR for any extended high speed riding use a DPR9Z, the engine will run a little cooler. C-ya!

ngk is the opposite, lower ##'s get hotter, the letters have to do with design... resistor, etc.
you want a hot enough plug to burn off any residual oils left on the plug but not too hot, they can cause other serious problems if too hot.
i run a B8ES, BR8ES or equivalent.

I couldn't afford those B8EGV plugs as my dealer charged over $5 each for them. I switched to B8ES and didn't notice any performance difference except they only cost $1.39 at the local auto store.

I read somewhere that Suzuki chose to run the B8EGV plugs because there electrical system was a bit weak and those plugs gave a better more reliable spark. Not sure if it is true though.

I've always been told to run what the manual says cause that's what the motor is designed for (kind of like gas). According to my service manual, the US models should run B9EGV and the Canadian models should run BR9EGV (if I remember right). Not sure why Canadian models run a different plug. Personally, I have never noticed decreased performance by running a lower number or not getting the EGV's.
