LT-500R air box
#1
has anyone ever heard that the air box does not seal well around the air filter, and if so is there any fixes for it. i read an article on how bad they leak dirt and dust by, but mine seems really tight.
any comments?

Its funny you should mention that. My zilla locked up, and while stripping it to rebuild, i noticed alot of sand and dust in the duct from the box to the carb....not very happy at all!! In my opinion mine didnt seal for sh&t. Im in the middle of rejetting cause ive decided on a foam filter that bolts directly to the carb. I made some plastic cover plates around it to keep off direct sand. I was told i should expect this to make my jetting to lean but I swear its richer than its ever been since i put this on! Ive raced it twice with the new foam filter and when i take it off, the carb is very clean...no muck. Im looking at a way to still use my air box....im thinking alota silicon!!!

Yeah, I've heard that but I haven't had any problems with my foam Uni. I make sure that it is extra sticky and covered with Bel-Ray filter oil. It was a pretty crappy design for an airbox, though. Suzuki should have built it better.

the k&n filter my local dealer sold me was an extremely tight fit throught the opening, but it seems to have sealed very well on the side that goes to the carb. i even took all the hoses of to take a look, seemed fine.
