I just had my kq bored and a new weisco piston installed. My engine has always had its share of clunks and rattles. Now it is quiet when I start it. After it warms up a little I hear what sounds like a valve "ticking" like it needs adjustment. Not real loud but it is just there. It seems like the valve adjustment would become less as it warms so I don't figure its valve noise. Any suggestions?

You still may have answered your own question. Check the valve clearance when the engine is cold, cold, cold. Other than that I've heard broken rings make that sort of sound. Hope it's not this case.

Good Luck,
Rob

This has nothing to do with the engine rebuild but -

Check the U-joints on the rear. If your noise is while you are moving only it could be that, they make a clicking noise when they start to wear out.
