Suzuki 230s
#3
It depends on what your Suzuki needs and what you expect of it. Remember even if you fix it up real nice, it is still an old quad. So don't expect to add a lot of value by spending money on it. If you spend a lot of $ on it, do it for your own enjoyment not to enhance the value of it.
The only way to get your money out of most any fix up project is to ride the money out of it.I did an old LT230s fix up and it came out great. I enjoy it very much, it looks and runs like new. But I realize it isn't worth any more than I've got in it {if that}. It will hang with the newer sport quads but it isn't quite the machine they are. But I've only got $1600 in it too. If you just want a fun sport quad keep the old Suzuki, if you wanna be Mr. Bad Boy get a newer sport model. Thats about the best advice I can give you. Good Luck in your decision!

I like the old suzuki sport quads because I can say I own a piece of history. "They don't make them like that anymore" is what people say! I have an old 87 500cc screaming yellow monster and people are always amazed to see it in such good shape. I also have a 87 Quadsport that is due for a restoration. I won't spend tons of money on it. Sand blast the frame and susp. components etc... I do it because I enjoy doing stuff like that...Plus I own a piece of history

I agree with stormin, old quads are cool. The nice thing about old quads is in addition to owning a piece of history, they are still a blast to ride!I may buy a new sport quad in the future but I won't turn loose of the oldie! I would love to do up an old Honda 200sx, just saw a prime specimen by a car repair shop yesterday, I will inquire about it tommorow. Old quads rule!!!

By the way Scramblur, new plastic {repro Maier} is readily available for about $225 in many places. I put new yellow plastic on mine, you would not believe how great it looks! It motivates you to pull the quad down and make the rest of it look as good and clean as the new plastic.

somebody gave me a 1985 lt230 and i brought it to the dealer and they serviced it for 300 and it has alot of power// the thing is a whellie machine// the front end is never on the ground// the only problem is sometimes the neutral light wont come on and it leaks a little oil, but it runs great
