88 piston in 87 lt250r?

I've been told that you can use a 88 piston in a 87 lt250r because the intake hoop on the bottom is larger for more intake duration. Can antyone shed some light on this and let me know if this is true. they also claim that it will give me more bottom end to mid grunt? Thanks

i haven't heard this Tazz, but i would say it could be done....becuz they cylinders are the same, as long as u have the powervalve engine.....

I'm pretty sure they are different cylinders. I recall something about the power valve being improved on 88+ and the port maps being a little crappier from 88+... I'm not sure, don't listen to me, but I seem to recall that.

I'll go look if I can find proof of this...
