When I purchased the KQ I also bought a 1500# superwinch thinking that 1500#s is plenty enough power for what I will be doing. Now I'm having second thoughts... My question is...I have 25'of cable...is that enough or did I make a mistake by not getting 50'of cable and if I use a ****** block with a 25' cable am I limiting myself to what I can do? I'm sure that it depends on the situation I'm in...I'm just wondering if I should have a 50' cable... and can the 1500# superwinch even handle a 50' cable? It looks as though there is still room on the spool for more cable.

There's plenty of room on the T1500 spool for 50' of cable, if that's what you want. The winch pulls harder from wraps near the center of the spool, however.

I'd recommend, initially, 50' of auxiliary cable, slip hooks on each end, coiled with nylon wire ties or velcro straps and lashed flat to the underside of your rack. With this auxiliary cable, you can use your ****** block, reeling in up to a 25' half of double line on the first "bite," using whatever you need later, single or double line pull.

If this arrangement proves unsatisfactory, you can spool the 50' of auxiliary cable onto your winch in place of the orignal 25'.

Regardless of the amount of cable spooled initially on your winch, I'd recommend at least 50' of auxiliary line.

When it was time to get a winch i went with the Warn 2000.I do have 50ft of cable but i carry a strong rope that is about 150ft long.I have only had to use the rope one time but i was glad i had it.I would put the 50ft of cable on if i was in your place....Have a great day.....Bob
