Hello to all
I have a 1985 lt250r. I noticed that when I took off the Magneto cover , There was a little bit of oil in there. Is that a seal that can be easily replaced ? If so please reply back with some directions on how to tackle this.
Thanks in advance.
Doug

ther are two seals inside that area, one is relatively easy to replace, the other takes some more work. try to determine where the oil is coming from and then you can fix the right one.
the easy one- on the crankshaft is the left main seal, remove the flywheel and there it is... to remove the seal, i think you can use a small screw... screw it into the seal then pull it out & replace it... it's easy if the motor is all apart, you can just pry it out with a screwdriver.
the tougher one- the balancer shaft seal. if it's this one, you probly ought to do all the seals in the motor anyway, you almost have to take it that far apart. you have to remove the clutch side cover, the clutch, and then the balancer shaft... then you can replace the seal.

my suggestion, study your manual(you do have one, i assume) look over the diagrams & pics of the seals inside that area and determine if you're capable of doing it & have the tools.
