First impressions of the Z400

I wonder what the incremental changes in the addition of the radiator and engine center of mass has on the liquid-cooled sportquads? Wouldn't all that be insignificant considering the 175-lb human perched on top of the machine?

Not to start an argument but a 175 pounds perched on a machine will make a huge diffrence if that person is not leaning. The weight i am talking about is dead weight that doesnt lean when the quad makes a corner like a person would (OR SHOULD).

Yes, I agree.. The LTZ400 is more comparable to the 300ex its SOO tippy.. Slow too.. WTFE

The only reason it is tippy is prolly the tires!!!! I hate those darn dunlops on my raptor, get some razr's and no more tippy feeling!

NOW your talking.. I saw one of those at the Yami dealer awhile back, sweet ride. I almost got one, but they wouldve had to order it, as the only on they had was used(I didn't want to get one somebody had used for racing and had ragged it out) So I held off. Them this LTZ came along, sounded great in the reviews, but I dunno, being liquidcooled and all, that makes them overly topheavy and just unusebly safe. But now the Breeze IS aircooled, Hmmmm...

yes, that one quart mixture of coolant and water weighs alot. don't forget the aluminum radiator that's mounted low on the frame contributes to it's "TIPPYNESS" dammit, i don't even wanna ride it where there's wind blowing since the 45+ inch of width will just make it "TIP" over.

Yep, 5 pounds of radiator and 1 pound of coolant is gonna make the Z400 tip over with ease. The engine is tilted 10 more degrees than the mororcycle engine as well. Z400 owners...get ready...If it's steady as a rock, and the best handling quad made, this will always be an issue because this has "supposedly" been the stronghold for the 400ex riders......now that has probably went away. Nothing is left. I owned a 400ex previously....do a search under Garyc400ex....you will find I found the 400ex (gasp!) 2-wheeling too much for my liking.

On a more serious note, what does Suzuki recommend for the break-in procedure?

I'm sure it is just the tires. People seem to &quot;forget&quot; how big a part tires play in the over all handling. My Cannondale has a lower seat hight and is wider than the 400ex but due to those dang Crapshots... er uh... Holeshots, the Cannondales tend to be pretty tippy on the MX track. When I get a job, I'll buy some 18&quot; tamers (even though I have been saying that for a long time now) and the handling will probably be LOTS better. Same with the Z400, get some good tires and it'll probably be a lot better.

Ofcourse people will try to find something wrong with other quads just to &quot;boost their own self esteme (sp?)&quot;. Don't worry, about it yall, it's all rider skill, especially on the track. I've been outrun by fairly stock 400ex's and in the same race, out run HIGHLY modded 250R's. Don't think buying a $20,000 Pro level quad is goin to make you ride at the pro level. You get Tim Farr out there on a stock 400ex and then get me on a HIGHLY modded Z400 or HIGHLY modded R and I'll bet you $100 that Tim Farr could still kick my ***.

I guess you are right and geometry DOESNT effect how a quad handles or corners. As long as it has the same seat heigth it MUST HANDLE THE SAME!!!.
There is some real Polish logic!!!
