Lets face it guys, a fast sport machine can go over 70 EASY with the right gearing. Its all gearing guys. My Banshee, street legal...with an almost stock motor could break 100MPH (on radar)!!! With the Stock gearing it couldnt come near that. If the bike can top out the motor in high gear, then you could go up a gear and gain MPH.

So....i dont think top speed means much, other than different gearing.

The Z has 14-40 gearing. The Raptor 13-40. The Z's internal are probably lower. I have a manaul, but am not intereseted in being that picky.

There are Z400s in Manitoba already. I'm 99% sure I'm buying one next week over the phone.

Quadjunky, I think they have use the z400 that have been show on the march-april atv-moto showroom in march in quebec. (i even sat on it) The dyno info come from a dealer reprensatative. I call my dealer and he don't know where the test have been performed. A old buddy that work there said to me those number come from a telephone call that the dealer reprensatative have receive when it was at my dealer. Bottom line; I am not able to have those dyno faxed to me .

Hey Moose, there were TWO Z400's at the Atoka drags yesterday... And both were being rode around a small amount. Neither one entered the races. One belongs to good friend and co-worker of mine. He brought it down to enter but I talked him out of it because he has only three hours on the quad. I rode it thru the pits a couple of times as did everyone in our group.

Sorry I only saw the one on the trailer after qualifying, I was helping a buddy of mine with his car. He broke 2 axles & we were changing them out between rounds.

Are you coming for the nationals? look me up I'll be with my friend in the main pits in a red enclosed trailer pulled by a red 4 door chevy. There will be a black VW dragsster in a top fuel style frame & the red drag buggie that broke the axles. I've got a blue Raptor, pro 3 #114 it has a chrome wheelie bar with a go cart tire.

Get some hours on those puppies & come run at the nationals!! a guy from Olkumlgee with a Z400 said he may be there as well. Friday night test & tune, Quads & fast 8 cars & quads race Sat, Pro 1 quads & cars on sunday, come on & lets see what they'll do it'll be a blast!!

<< The lt-z400 have been tested yesterday at Quebec city. They have tested in the same day a z400, 400ex, and a raptor. Here are the number:

z400:
34.5 whp
27 of torque
68 milles per hour max speed

400ex
31 whp
25 of torque
63 milles per hour max speed

raptor
36 whp
no number for the torque...
74 mille per hour max speed

Seem that the raptor hp is pretty low... (and all hp are a little high) but these test have been performed in the same day.

I will check tomorrow to have the test faxed to me... If I am able to have it faxed to me, I will scan it and post it somewhere... to follow!

I was checking out the ATV Sport Buyers guide. They have Dynojet numbers for most of the quads. 400ex was at 26.5hp , Raptor was at 34.3hp. The Cannibal was at 37.9hp....so to throw the Dale into the mix...the Z is under by about 5-6 hp I'd say, if they where measured on the same dyno.

Hey Moose,

Got about 3 hours on the z400 yesterday. Hopefully I can get some more time in this week or next weekend. Will the Friday before memorial day be test & tune night? I've never drag raced so I need some practice. Tried same starts yesterday and it almost came over on me a couple of times. Wish I had one of those wheelie bars. I guess I just need to get a feel for how much throttle I can use without the front wheels getting too high. Have any tips for me?
