Gray Oil

Guys, what do you think.....I blew the piston so i took the jug off etc to take the cylinder in to be honed and bored again .30 over. Got it back, put everything back together , changed the oil and it ran super. After about 6 hard hours on it i changed the oil again and it looked like gray paint. I checked the antifreeze and it appeared full, we did ride thru some deep water crossings and thought maybe thats how (not sure how). Then i thought that maybe when i took the jug off that some of it went down into the bottom end that didnt come out when i changed the oil the first time.

What do you think?

I think I would go for the deep water idea. Check everything to see that it is sealed good.

Did you forget to break it in? I know that couldn't cause your oil problems because this is probably a 2 stroke, but I was just wondering.

Yes it was broke in properly. 3 heat cycles, rode easy for quite awhile after.

You def. got water in there. that's why it's gray. Prob. sucked it either through the air filter, or cold water hitting a hot engine will cause an engine to &quot;draw&quot; the water in between gaskets.

Nothing too big, just change the oil...

I do head gaskets on dodge neons in my spare time, I know once you get the water in the oil its sometimes terrible to get out.

If you got enough water in through a deep water crossing to turn the oil gray the bike would have died and sunk.


My feeling is the water pump or seal is shot.
