Will over oiling the air filter make an engine hard to start? I only ask because I haven't had any problems until today when I cleaned and oiled the filter. Once a little warm it starts just fine.

Alright, there are various reasons for a hard start. I experienced this a couple of times, but then realized I was a doofus and using the choke when it was not necessary. At temperatures above 68 degrees, you don't need it. Under that to 40 degrees, half choke, under that full choke. Other than that, I've had yet to have any starting problems. Although my girl likes to stall hers, HA! Man I love this machine. Who knows about that oil thing though, maybe you soaked it too much and it's gotten sucked down or something? I dunno about that. You find anything out, make sure you post it, aieet?
peace

yes putting to much oil on the filter will cause it to not get as much air...

if you guys have problems starting your new Z's, maybe some of your friends has a 400ex that they could pull you off with.

Thanks everyone,

I think I did choke it when I didn't need to. Also my son had been playing with the idle **** and it was idling too low to keep running. Thanks for the help.

Or he could just use the choke only when needed (seems like his Hondas need to be choked... for some reason...)and keep his son away from the carb bama400ex.

He'd be better of trying to pull one with a lawnmower, hell, it'd have more power anyways

Let the 400EX pull it off. It will be the only time the 400EX is ahead of a Z !!!

Well, it had to be the choke. The Z started on the first hit today with no choke, although, I still had to choke the Recon. Those Honda's are just cold natured.
