wshrdskin,

I would say it is true most of the time if you keep those crappy 2-ply stock tires on the front. I always had a flat tire before the end of the day. What does the z400 come with on the front?

Other than that, the only real problem I have had when trail riding is wearing off the teeth from the front sprocket much faster than the 400exs due to all the torque. This is a nice problem to have. Hopefully the z400 eats front sprockets too.

From the looks of the tires the Z has the same tires as the Raptor stock. Before I purchased the Holeshots Ive never had problems with the tires and I ride in some very rocky and tree stumped areas. Ive recently purchased another Raptor from my sister whose stock tires have never failed her. Just my observation.

For anybody thinking about a Cannondale. The statement that they are hard to modify is a little mis-leading.

Is there all that crap you need to make the other quads faster, no.

Lets look at what most others are doing. 400EX, Raptor, Banshee, DS.

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, High Comp piston
Cannondale already runing 12:1

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Air box mods
Cannondale is up front can be opened as well

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Carbs
Cannondale Fuel Injected more GAS can be delieved with easier tuning including the fact you don't need an advance key.

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Slip-on or Full exhaust
Cannondale have slip ons and complete avalible

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Head work (Port and Polish)
Cannondale You can do the same here.

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Cams also you will need hardened rockers, stronger springs, lighter retainers
Cannondale We are already running a High RPM Cam so we don't need all that.

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Shocks Theres some money I don't have to spend.
Cannondale We already have Olins they are great.

400EX, Raptor,Banshee, DS, Big bore kit
Cannondale We are running a 438cc now, In the short term there isn't a kit avalible. We do well on that tiny little 438.

That's about all I could think of so if any of you who KNOW how you can't upgrade the Cannondale could you let me know.

Thanks

Smitty

I saw a killer Suzuki quad yesturday but it wasn't a Z400 or Quadzilla. This was better if you want power. It was a Suzuki Zilla frame with a 1000cc KZ100 in line 4 cyclinder bike motor with a 1105cc big bore kit. It made around 85 plus hp. He said he can't open it up in 4th gear as the front end comes up at 85mph plus. It still has a 5th gear.

It was doing hill climbs and it is did it with ease. Only thing that sucked is the gas mileage or lack of it. 5 gallons didn't go very far he said.

let me tell you a true story. my son races mx with a yamaha blaster. 2 months ago he raced and there were 19 quads counting 2 raptors. at the time all his blaster had was a pipe, reeds, k & n filter and shreddar rear tires. both raptors finished behind him. since then we have put in a vitos piston, milled the head .020 and rejetted the carb. this month we go after the ex's. so drag race and brag all you want but bring it to the track and its a totally different story. oh by the way, lets see raptor 660 cc, blaster 200 cc thats a 460 cc difference. thats a whole quad [ or 2 blasters ]

As a former Raptor owner of three, let me tell you guys that the Z400 is far from being slow. It totally out handles and performs better than my Raptors ever did. If you Raptor owners want to ride faster on the track or in the woods you owe it to yourself to try a Z400. After riding the Z400, the Raptor felt like the GRIZZLY. No kidding, it took a while to feel sporty again. Former raptor owner,New Suz. Z400 fan!

Rodsquads, well put! It's too bad most people think cc's is the only answer to the complete overall package. Former Raptor owner also. I guess if your only ability is to go in a straight line and boost your ego, buy them...Boost your ego some more, put a big bore kit in them.

Thrust,

No it won't be locked. I didn't see any forum rule violations and people are free to talk even if you don't consider the thread worthwhile.
