I'm gonna buy some new paddles for the Z and wanted to get a few opinions. I mostly do recreational trails at Little Sahara, but like to hit the trails pretty hard at times. I've also done some drag racing recently. I'm considering these tires:
1. Kenda Gecko's
2. Sand Skate II's
3. Skat Trak Edge
4. Maybe a Maxxis Rooster, but I haven't heard much about them yet.
Considering my type of riding and the power of the Z, which one do you think is best.

I don't think the Gecko's are very good. I run the Sand Skate II's and really like em. A friend of mine has the Sand Sharks on his Z400 and is happy...

go with the sand skate II for the best all around sand tire. or you could go with the sandsharks but the skate's are a little better.

havent tryed gecko's but i hear you either love em or hate em.

rule out the the edge haulers if you do some serious trail riding, the skate's will last alot longer and not tear as easilly.

Roosters, i havent heard anything on them yet there a little less expensive than the skate's

you might also try straight paddle hauler's with mohawk fronts. i dont have my mohawks yet, but i hear if you run this setup you have the same turnability you have with V-shaped paddles but you can drag and hill climb better.

Roosters are not for high powered quads, They spin like angled paddles.
IMO Extreme haulers & Mowhawk fronts are the way to go in the sand.

I sand drag & go to Little Sahara once a month. I've got 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme Haulers on 9" wide Douglass black lables & 21x7x10 Mowhawks on front. As long as you don't try to turn under power they turn fine.

You may want to try the 8 paddle 20x10x10 Extreme Haulers on 8" wide wheels & mowhawks on front. These should provide good hook up without robbing power on the top end

Yep, like Moose said. Go with a straight paddle in back and a ribbed tire in front. That way you can turn and hook up. V paddles, phooey!

Haulers are the undisputed king of straight paddles but you may also want to look at GBC or Chen Shin straight paddles at half the cost. I have Haulers and Chen Shin Dune Hoppers and they both hook up great.
