22's on my Z, what sprocket to use?
#1
I've been looking into getting some 22 inch fairly aggressive trail/mud/snow tires for my Z but I know I'll want to change the gearing as how tall it is. I'd like to, after the 22's are on, have so it is not as tall as it is with the stock set up. Any suggestions on which sprocket to change and to what? Has anyone done this yet and how do you like it? I live here in Washington, and do lots of trail riding and tend to like hitting the mud too since it rains to gosh darn much anyhow. I can't wait. I'm also waiting for the trail tech people to get those light/speedo setups done too. Can't wait for that.

I have 22" Dirt devils on the rear and instead of hillclimbing in 3rd I now hit it in 2nd. I think if I drop 1 tooth on the front it will be perfect. The difference the 22s made was unbelievable. I ride mainly in the woods with hillclimbs and creeks and powerlines. I was bottoming out alot on the trail but now I don't hit anything.

I like it alot better! It's faster with out all of the noise. I have not put them on the line against each other but it feels faster!! I do think it is faster b/c I have raced all of my friends on the 426ex and I know I beat the 400exs by more on the Z400 than on my 426.

I love my bike more every single darn day. So sweet. So when are you getting rid of your ex? Better do it soon, notice that when the Z came out, how much less you are able to sell an ex for? Just somethin I've noticed, could be wrong.
