Tachometer help with Z400
#1
I'm very interested in getting a tach for my Z, I think it would be "alot" of fun to have. Highlifter has one and its even yellow, its $139, no a bad price and it looks really sharp. Anyways they don't know if it will work on the Z400 so I asked for a wiring diagram. I got the diagram faxed and I have scanned it and put it on the web.
So can someone please take a look at the wiring diagram and tell me if it would work on the Z400? If not what would have to be changed to make it work. Thanks.

I went out there tonight and forgot to look at the coil. I did pull the baffle off the intake, but that's it. I'll look in the morning and post later tomorrow.
There are cheaper ones ou tthere than $139. Some will run right off the spark plug wire.

I know you can get cheaper ones but they are digital and digital tachs take samples not a constant read like an analog one does. Do you know of cheaper analog ones? I like the looks of highlifter's tach, it matches the Z perfectly.

I looked at the coil tonight while I was rejetting. It's right up there at the front of the frame under the gas tank. It looks like hooking up a tach lead would be a slam dunk. i say go for it. I want to get one too. I can't guarantee you 100% it will work since you are the first guy tring this, but it looks like you can hook right into the post without any difficulty.
