Z400 drag results
#1
My brother who also bought a Z400 raced two raptors today. Some friends of his wanted to drag on the blactop in front of their house. Both are pretty much stock except k&n filters and pipe work. The Z is bone stock. The Z beat the factorys gearing hands down except at the top end at the rev limiter. The one that was geared down stayed within one length until 5th and then pulled away slowly. My brother rode their raptors and could not believe the vibration in that yamaha motor. Also it had no bottom end compared to the suzuki. I was suprised when I saw the races. I thought the raptor would win.

I DO feel sorry for what is gonna happen to you...
I don't know about the Z having more low end-
I DO believe I could outrun all but some of the experienced draggers (on stock raptors) with my Z, but my odds would slip away the longer the drag was. ( JUST like with a banshee)

Fishdog, gearing the bike down will make it slower at top speed and much faster through the lower gears. The Z400 is a great machine, Suzuki did a good job making that quad. Theres enough honest and unbiased opinions out that says the Z can hang with a Raptor for the first 3 gears and falls off after that. To me that is very impressive for a 260 cc less displacement motor. I'd like to have a Z. But I already have a great quad and so does your brother. Enough already.
