How do you check/adjust the valves on the Z? When can we expect a service manual to be avail?

I am taking mine into the dealers mech's for that service. They will check all the nuts and bolts, grease what needs greasing, and check the valves. They probably do oil too, but I already did that at ten hours. I'm pretty sure if I do that, I won't have warrantee issues later. You are supposed to have them checked at about fifteen hours is what I was told. (between 5 and 15 depending on delearship mechanic) The lowest price I found for the first service was $160 and another was $250.

Isn't that a crock? That first service should be included in the sale. I bought a badger a couple years ago for my sons, got a warrenty with it. (shouldn't have) and took it in for its first service. $120.00 to adjust the valves basicaly. Bought a manual. Its never seen the shop again and never will. Niether has my Raptor. Until the tranny goes anyway.

HAHAHA

That is probablly why I have heard Dealers called "Stealers" many a time

I am sure they are not all bad, but I am also sure the list of work performed is not always actually performed.

I think I will buy the manual also, and save a chunk of money, and know that it is DONE.

As far as th warranty, oh well I could say I just have not ridden it over 15 hours over the past 6 months.

More then likely your valves will not need adjusting. It only takes a few minutes to check them anyway after you get the tank and plastic off. I do all of my maintains myself. I am not going to trust anyone with may Z400. Buy a manual it will tell you how do everything.
