lt250r clutch help?
#1
Went to the dunes and noticed it was starting to slip a little so I figured it's 11 years old it's probably bad. I installed a barnett clutch with the plates and springs and used golden spectro oil. It does the same thing as before. If your going along and you nail it the front end should come up or the tires smoke but it slips. I rode it with the clutch lever completely loose so it should have had full pressure? Any ideas?

you used golden spectro oil? what kind? isn't all they make pre-mix oil?
if so, get regular gear oil in there asap. one thing i've heard works is type F ATF... problem is, it's incompatible with most tranny & gear oils, but it is cheap.
the previous owner of my brother's quad had put pre-mix in the gearbox too, the clutch had to be replaced on the first rebuild we did.

Does it say for 2 stroke tranny's on it. Stop down at the dealer ship and get some just for that and then you will know for sure if its the lube causing the problem or not.
I use Maxima MTL Fluid, 2-Cycle transmission Lube, Racing 80 wt.

then it's probly not the oil.
my next bet would be a worn down pressure plate.
it's probly not the basket b/c when that is worn out the clutch usually drags & won't let you shift easily.

start checking your plate (fiber & metal) thicknesses against factory specs with a caliper(borrow or buy one if you have to- they are worth thier weight in gold once you have one & know how to use it). also are you sure you have the right number of plates?
