22 inch spider tracs any good?
#2
My dad has had spider tracs on his 500 quadracer since he got it in '87. He loves them. They are great for trail riding as that is the only kind of riding he does. They work great for mud and snow, but they have too much sidebite for powersliding.
I am not sure if a stock Z400 will be able to run them as well as the 500 though.
I had a pair of Holeshot XCT's on my 400EX and liked them. I still have them and will be putting them on as soon as I find a good set of wheels off Ebay. My next set of tires will be spider tracs though.

I used to have a set of Spider Tracs on my old 230 Q-Sport. They worked great and had tons of traction. Luecker was right on the side bite and not being able to slide too much. It can be done, but requires a lot of rider input to keep it on all 4. I ended up burning the clutch out because of the traction and the riding I did.
The only problem I can see running them on smaller machines is the weight. The Spider Tracs aren't a light tire, but are very durable. The Z should do ok with a set of 22" tires. There's plenty of power there, but personally I would wait for the snow to fly before putting them on. I would go with the Holeshots for the spring, summer, and fall riding. Hope this helps.
