After picking up my new Z400 I went over everything because I don't trust service dept. with my safety, I found that the air filter had very little filter oil on it, looked like they just sprayed a little oil here and there so I took out and oiled it properly, just don't want someone else to ride your Z400 in the dirt for any lenth of time if yours is lacking oil like mine was.

Same here, very thin oil. I have also noticed that with the "real" foam filter oil, not the spray on, the Z smokes a lot for the first few minutes. My EX only smoked for a few seconds. It must be cause I'm useing Honda oil on my Suzuki.HaHa.

I really don't trust the Z filter set-up.

Later...

Everything here checked out great too, gap, filter, etc. Glad to hear we have some smart individuals here who check their own stuff to KNOW for themselves. Enjoy your new machines.
