I'm at 155 and I think I need to go bigger as well - the guys running the DRZ-s are changing to a 150 with just a hole in the lid - no pipe or filter. They also say to run a 27.5 pilot and move the washer on the needle - this is the same carb and motor we have

Nobody has a 160 in town here - I did read that somebody tried a 170 (on the S) and it was too big - 160 was perfect

Trinity had a 170 in mine and the hp increased but we lost bottom end. The 165 did the best. Most systems are running best at this size.

Well I went to the dunes this past weekend and did some more jetting there. The 160 was too small and all I could find was a 170 which was to big unless I removed the lid it was still to rich but atleast I could ride. Got home and I finally found a 165 and have put that in but have not been able to ride it. I think I will still have to have the lid off but I think that will be were I need to be at.
All I know is with the mods I have now it really woke the Z up as I was trying to do some hole shots at the dunes and granted the sand was damp from the nights rain but even at my 260 lbs. and leaning WAY over the bars I still could not keep the front end down.

Hey, thanks for the help everyone. 1 more question, I've modified the stock exhaust by removing the sound baffle / peashooter. How much airflow do I have now compared to an aftermarket slip-on? I only ask because if I'm flowing a little less air then my jetting will be a little different too.

I live at sea level, and tried to take the lid off also.
It would not run for crap, so I put it back togeter until I do all my mods at once.

Anyone know what jet seems to work good with no lid, but stock exhaust???

Thanx,
LOBE

I would think around the 150 mark or bigger. Sell some Pro Armor skids and buy the Trinity pipe and be done with the trouble of jetting.

I cut out the pea-shooter, took off the hard plastic thing at the end of the snorkel (sound baffle?) and rejet with a 145.

I'm still rich with the airbox lid off. It could be attributed to the stock filter.

Well, I made my own airbox breathable cover from speaker mesh material.

After riding around the neighborhood a bit (as to not annoy them too much) it looks like the 145 main jet is close to right. When I get my unifilter, I'll take a look at the plug.
