I have the auto and I like it allot. I also have a Kodiak and I prefer the Eiger... to me thats saying something becuase the Kodiak is such a great machine. Plenty of power (but not like a grizzly or prairie 650 obviously), very stable, and has excellent grip on hills and mud.
Its got its quirks like stiff shifter, some engine / tranny noises that seem odd.. especially when using the rear brake to slow down faster than the engine brake, and the suspension is not adjustable. I jump mine pretty regularly and I haven't hit bottom (I weigh 210) so I don't care about the adjustability (it rides great by the way). The rivets on the body work suck too but I think most do.
I don't think you can go wrong with the eiger for the price.

My buddy has the Eiger and i've ridden it quite a few times....i have no idea what it's reliability will be like, but the performance of the machine is awesome...if the reliability is there it will undoubtedly be a great bike!

I really like my Eiger 5sp 4x4 so far. Had a prob at first, some gunk in the bowl of the carb and was stalling, but they fixed that and good so far. Had a little race w/ my Kodiak the other day, it got the jump and the Eiger started to catch up and was going to pass but had to let off due to a gate in the road. I know the Kodiak has better top end then the Eig 5 sp but the fact that a 5 sp can out run my kodiak mid range is saying something for a 5 sp. I know a guy with an Eiger auto and has had some backfiring and starting probs, but his was one on the first sold and was jetted wrong. All in all a great value for the money. However, a stick just jammed a hole in my eigers floor board, they are thinner than my Kodiak's.

Hey Grif
I have a new Eiger auto (about 400 miles now) and it is the smoothest atv I ever rode on trails and rough stuff. It is always in the right gear and ready to pull like a train, although the engine braking is a little aggressive in slow speed trail work and gets a bit lurchy (using low range helps this a lot). The sticky gear shift seems to be getting freer or I am getting to know the tricks to shift it better. All in all it is a great machine and I am very pleased with it.

I didn't like the plastic fasteners at first either. Now that I have gotten the hang of them, they are great. The side covers and floor boards can be off in less than 5 min. with one screwdriver. The skid pan is kindof weak, but I have plans for that. I already redone the front bumper and made my own skid plate. Got rid of all the plastic. I also cut the fenders up to 1/2" below the bend and trimed the floor boards to match. It looks alot more sporty. If anyone would like to check it out e-mail me and I will send you some pics.
As far as the rear break chatter, it is normal for quads with engine breaking. The Eiger make a little noise, but you should get flying on a 660 Grizzly and jab on the brakes. It sound and feels like the rear end is going to fall out.
I was leary of buying another Suzuki after my LTF250 4x4(little green turd), but the Eiger is first class.

Jham... I would have your eiger looked at. Both My wifes and my fathers 5sd manual will out accel and have a higher top speed than the Kodiak. I guess thats why she sold the kodi. To further back this up, our best friend has a kodi and repeated drag results show the eiger on top. As a matter of fact my wife drag raced a 2001 grizz 600 and beat him at top end. So either we have two SUPER eigers or you have one SUPER kodi Top speed on both eigers is 56mph. Kodi was around 52 - 53.
