minnesotaMojave,

What logic are you using here??

While the kid was driving illegally in this instance,......the bigger picture is that someone was driving an ATV on a public roadway. Just who do you think the law enforcement would go after here?? If he reported it,,HE would be the one in a heap...not the kid.

If it wasn't a public roadway, the same thing applies. Because if this is the case, then the kid wasn't driving illegally and neither was Ashburner. It would then come down to which person had permission to be on the property.

Knows alot, actually, they are US Forest Service roads so anyone and everyone is allowed to use them. No Speed limits, no lanes.

Just got back from the Oregon Dunes. Ran into my son on a blind turn at about 15 MPH, He was going about 5 MPH with both of us having full on brakes. My DS650 Baja right rear rim hit his Z400 right front upper A arm. The DS650 Baja has a 1/2" ding in the edge of the rim, the Z400 has a bent frame, upper A arm, possible lower A arm and steering stem. What is up with that! I know the Baja is the strongest bike made (505 Lbs), but come on Suzuki! I went to the Suzuki shop and low and behold another Z400 at the shop with a slow speed bent frame also. The shop tells me the frame is $1535.00. Can we say Class Action Law suit?

Baja,

How can you tell if the frame is bent?

Thanks,

Ash

Dude, any quad will bend when it collides with a bus.lol I'm sure the Z isn't as tough as your DS, but it wasn't designed for a COLLISION!

I'm very happy with my Z. One mistake, and $40 later, it is better that ever. Thanks everyone for the help.

PS. If you are 18 yrs. old or younger, go to bed and don't post another stupid response to this thread.

Thanks,

Jason

Hey Ash,
Answer to your question about the bent frame. Paint cracks on at least 10 welds. The upper A arm (very soft) bent back towards the shock. The lower A arm is not bent at all. If you tip it on end you can see how the rear "A" arm mounts(both upper and lower), where they connect to the frame, have pushed in. The flaw (besides me crashing) in the design is that the "A" arm mounting point (Rear) are welded in the middle of a tube of steel. Basic physics take over, push on the middle of a pipe suspended on each end and the middle bends easy. More damage is in the upper mounting area, however the lower mounting point bent also. Funny thing about this whole thing, when riding the Z400 you can't feel the bend at all. No pulling, nothing?
