Z400 frames bend easy!
#1
I just had a SLOW SPEED collision between my DS650 Baja and my sons Z400.
The Baja has a 1/2" small ding in the right rear rim (douglas .190), the Z400 has a bent frame, Upper A arm, maybe the lower A arm and steering stem. If I measure the left then the right side rim to rim, the right side is now 1 2/8" closer together. I went to the Suzuki shop and guess what, Yup! another Z400 with a slow speed impact BENT FRAME!
Please reply ONLY if you also have a bent frame as we need to get some quantity numbers going here. We may have a recall potential?

When will the bitchin about this and that and let's get a recall petetion going for everything on the Z400 ever stop? After owning quads for 14 years, I've seen a lot of bent frames, a-arms, tie rods, axles, etc and you just live with it. Get better parts. Stock parts are not suppose to be indestructible. If they were, we would all be paying like $12,000 like the Cannondales. Yeah, yeah you didn't want to hear from anyone except bent frame people but I'm getting sick of everyone and their mother wanting Suzuki to recall every part. Maybe it's been too long of a week too!

OK WELL WHEN IT'S YOUR BIKE AND YOUR MONEY THEN DON'T BITCH....BUT FOR EVERY1 ELSE LEAVE THEM ALONE...I DID NOT BUY THIS BIKE TO INVEST THOUSANDS... NOW IF THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM THEN SUZUKI SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE... SO IN CLOSING IF SUZUKI WANTS A FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION BIKE TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE NEXT YEAR THEY SHOULD AT LEAST LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND WORK WITH THE CURRENT OWNERS TO REMEDDY THE PROBLEM... I DON'T KNOW ABOUT EVERY1 ELSE BUT IT WOULD **** ME OFF IF THEY WERE TO CHANGE THE FRAME IN THE NEXT PRODUCTION YEAR...... FOOD FOR THOUGHT NOW EAT THAT.

WOW.. SORRY TO HEAR THAT. my bike has a bent tie rod, bent frame and a bent steering stem at the lower base and it is bowed in the middle.(i never specified where the stem was bent in my other posts). It was a low impact hit. Took it to the my dealer and they sent a report to suzuki, of course suzuki says it is operator fault. I would if i was suzuki, admit there is a mistake on their bike...HELL NO!!! And as far as every1 thinking there is a recall on the axle....NO!NO!NO!
so lets see what they do now.

I have to agree partly with Guido. When something goes wrong with any of my bikes I go and buy aftermarket which is better and stronger. I ride hard and I expect things to go wrong or there would not be an aftermarket. Don't think that I like spending more money, but it is that or slow down. I am not retired yet so that won't happen.

I started the axle petition, I now know it doesn't matter. It won't make a recall happen. Suck it up stop treating your Z like a utility machine. You break something, try for warranty, no warranty then buy aftermarket. The DS does weigh allot more than the Z and its more likely the Z will get bent up more than the DS. Its just like that guy who posted about his axle being wet spageti after he clipped a tree with his rear tire, man that must be a weak axle! What does everyone expect? Also hitting a 90 degree dirt pile with one tire and bending an a arm at 30mph. This all might be a sign of weak components and we may have a better '04 model, much like the '02 raptors. Or this may all be flukes, maybe that axle was defective, maybe you tweaked the frame in the exact right spot or maybe that guy's a-arm being bent was from user error?
I bet this stuff happens to all other brands as well, its just we hear it more from people who own brand new first year model quads. They expect them to be quads blessed by god just because its a new model.
Well its bed time, this post was just a rant and probably would of made more sense if I wrote it earlier.

Personally I figure if I run into something or hit a tree or another quad it's my fault and not the quads. I don't ask GM to recall my Suburban if I hit a tree with it. I would be willing to bet that if you slammed a Honda or a Yamaha into a tree or dirt bank at 30 mph you would also break something. They are quads not dozers.

Ok...the automobile industry have standards concerning low speed crashes and so forth. Again all stories are different...and i just want to know if this is going to be a future concern and if the manufaturer will take notice, thats all. HEY Zoo how come you didn't buy a Explorer, Grand Vitara, or better yet the hyndia santa Fe????
