I have a 1989 Suzuki LT-250 4x4 and the quad isn't the fastest but it has unbeleivable power with the 3 speed subtrany and 2wd, 4wd, and 4 wheel differential lock and is so reliable but i am really looking for something faster but as versitle and reliable.
The King Quad matches exactly but the 500cc Kodiak has nice rewiews and sounds good and has a nice suspension and i can't choose between the 2 so please send me your advice on the best quad for hard, slow, jumpy, steep trail riding.

The new kodial is 400 and not 500 cc. I would say that they don`t really compare to each other. The KQ is a utility quad and the kodiak is more of a sport utility quad. I think that the kodiak is the most versatil of the 2 since it will go faster and pull stronger. It`s also seem more confortable on long ride. But for slow, technical and steep slippery rock crawling terrain, the diff lock, IRS and manual trans. on the KQ might be better (my opinion). 2 completly different quads.

I totally agree with A team,they are two completely differant quads.I owned a 87 and 97 KQ.Great utility quads.Want lots more speed?Somthing more nimble?4x4?Super hill climber?How about taking a ride on a 00 Xplorer 400cc 4x4?I cant say for sure that you'll like it,but I sure do.After riding my 500cc Sportsman for a little over a yr,the new Xplorer runs like a rocket.Good luck====BILL

I am really into Suzuki and Yamaha. I don't like the Polaris' becouse of there belt drive which I've heard that if you go into water kinda fast or high the belts get wet and begin to slip then the belts will burn up kinda fast and it would totaly suck to get stuck in the middle of nowhere.and Kawasaki's are totaly out of the picture to even consider.

The new Kodiak is belt drive and so is one of the 500 Suziki's. I dont think belt getting wet thing happens as much as every one thinks. Now you may not want to use it for a boat,but my Sp 500 will go just about any where and its the best riding utility quad I have ever rode.

I own a King Quad and I love it as a utility quad but for trail riding get something else Just a note on the Polaris belt slippage thing. A friend of mine has a Sportsman 400 and he goes through the same water / mud as I do on my King Quad without any belt slippage yet. We havent tried water over 2 feet deep yet though.

Get a kodiak. More nimble, quicker, better hill shooter, but the disadvantage is its a little tippy below 5mph.
