Trimming Plastic

I have seen quite a few new Zs with the fenders trimmed. How did you guys do it?

There are several post about it. Use a coping saw, and cut along the line you will draw with dry erase marker. Sand smooth.

Coping saw? What in hell is a coping saw? John, you're showing your age.

I used a pair of sheet metal shears. Worked great. I finished them up with a sander. Looks factory if you didn't know better.

A router works well also. You have to be pretty swift about it though, because it will melt. And of course sand it afterwards. The best thing to do is practice on a peice of plastic other than your machines.

WP,

You're KILLING ME, a coping saw is a big U shaped saw, with a large troat, you can also adjust the blade angle to cut deep sides. Here I'll draw a picture:

In the 21st century we are using air saws and die grinders to accomplish this feat.

The differences between air and electric are like night and day. Air is 100% better, because it like a hydrostatic transmission vs gear shift it basically has an infinate number of speeds. Air is more controlable, and easier to use. But if your cheap, an electric Dremal works just fine. Go to my website, it kinda explains how I did it.
