Hey guys,
I have three questions. If you can help me with any of them, great!

1) I was wondering if any of you had used the new maier plastics out there for the LT500. I've heard that they have a shiny finish, instead of the dull finish like their previous plastics. I wanted to customize my 'zilla, since I am tired of the same old yellow and blue scheme, so I got a Cascade seat (yellow, white, and blue) and some used Maier plastics (white, great condition) but now I'm thinking of going with the new shiny ones (and maybe a different color) if Maier makes them for the LT500, or if another company makes some...

2) I'm thinking about getting my cylinder o-ringed so I don't blow any head gaskets (I just blew one and my motor is apart) and it looks like Trinity Racing will be able to do it for around $130. They seem like a good company to me, and I've heard good things about them, so would this be worth it, or do you know of another reliable (cheaper) shop that can do it?

3) Case inserts. Again, Trinity can do them for $250, but who would you guys go with? I've heard that Tudors doesn't have the best customer service, and so I'm not sure if I want to go with them...

Thanks for your input on this.

I too would like to know who to send my engine to for case inserts and engine work. Tudors will go through the entire engine and clean it out and out the case inserts in for around $1000. Sounds pretty good to me but I dont want to send in my engine and not see it forever and have baad customer service.

Send it to a regular race shop. I made the mistake of letting a dealer do mine (supposed to be a hot shot mechanic). He done all right but i wish I had sent it to trinity.

I just put new maier front plastic on my zilla. It's nice and shiny, just like stock plastic. I'd rather have o.e.m. plastic, but maier is a heck of a lot cheaper and looks pretty good. Does fullbore make zilla plastic? I didn't see any on their site.

Check out duncan racing for the eninge work on the zilla. They have had articles in dirtwheels a while back about the zilla and how they've built the best duning quad from one of them that will pretty much eat anything on the dunes. I talked to them about the case inserts for a lt250r, but ended up buying new cases instead. They said it was a common problem in both 250 and 500 model more so in the 500. Their site is DR

Ok,
How about instead of o-ringing the head, what about putting in bigger head studs?

My brother had 2 500's done by Trinity, 1 with a Stage IV, the other with a Stage II and they held up perfectly. O rings are the way to go. Have them throw a turbo on your head for better atomization of the fuel while you are at it.

Does the "turbo" modification really make enough of a difference to have it done to the head?

I don't know the exact hp increase, but it will make a difference. It helps swirl the gas and air, mixing them better which causes them to burn cleaner and more efficiently.
