lt500r wondering how they are supposed to run

Have you figured out the exhaust valve V8?

1st check: How's the spring look? If it's bent or looks bad, replace it!
2nd: Valve free and turns easy?

put the cap on the spring with no preload (note where the pointer is oriented) turn the spring/cap assembly 180 degrees COUNTERclockwise and lock it down.
Very easy adjustment. The valve will remain open until approx 4500 rpm.

v8vega350,,i have the same problem that you have but mine is on a lt 250 a went 1.25 over on my piston.the power valve rod don't go up at all.i adjusted the power valve by hand on the left side and it runs a little better but something its wrong.the power valve rod move freely.but i'm going to try the steps from duneadict.

that i how it is adjusted but it is like it just cant push hard enough i can see the lever starting tp push up but it will only wiggle a little bit. i moves perfectly and after it is adjusted i can push it easy. do you know how much pressuer it is supposed to push with

whould this stop it from reving if it is not opening or will it just not make as much power

It will still rev... but it wont make all the top end that it would if the valve were open.
