Thinking of buying a lt250r
#1
Hi, Right now i am riding a mojave and it just doesnt have the power that I want. I am 14 years old and almost 6 feet tall i weigh about 145.I do mostly trail riding, some mx, hillclimbs and wide open field riding. What do you think of the Lt250r for me, is a good choice?

It Is a nice fast ride
I got mine 2 weeks ago & I luv it
In the mud & sand it Rides great
Mines an 86
It Looks like hell (Cracked plastic)
Runs great
Check the rear bearings carefully its a
pricy job.
Good Luck.

I just bought my second LT, an '87. I had an '86 before..liked both. Good power, easy to work on, parts availibility is good, handle decent. Plus they are slightly easier (and cheaper) to find than TRX250R's...

For Sport riding I think that the LT250R ranks up there with the best of them. I had an '89 LT250R until last year when I traded it for my '86 TRX250R. The powervalve adds some good bottom and the bike corners better than any other I have ever ridden (including either of my 250R's).

As you can see by my tag line I have both a Mojave and a LT250R. I bought the Mojave first and it was a great start into the sport. My girlfriend wanted to start riding, and I was looking for a little more 'oomph' so I started looking for a 250 2-stroke or a Warrior. Well, I ended up wiuth my 1990 LT250R, and I'm extremely happy with it. the LT has alot more power than the Mojave, and the main difference is how it turns on. A 2-stroke is like a light switch with the power, it comes on in a flash, and is all at the top end.. :P If your an able rider, you should be able to handle a stock LT250R. Don't get one that's been modified, you wont like it until you're ready. The other thing I'd say is look for a 1987 or newer, Suzuki made some signifigant changes for '87 and they do show up in the performace. However the price will be slightly higher but not by alot.
