Hard Starting LT80
#1
Thought I would pass question to the experts here. My son's LT80 is extremely hard to start after it has been sitting for a couple of days. To get it started I practically burn the starter up each time. It slowly chugs and sputters for for 20 seconds then runs pretty strongs for the rest of the day. I've changed the spark plug, which made no difference. I noticed it's a little wet from the start, I'm only guessing that's normal. It does smoke a little after first start for about 10 or 15 minutes until it's pretty warm and then smokes a little for what I would guess is normal. I've checked the compression which is 110 psi cold. I know this is a pretty open ended question. But I figured I would ask before I start taking it apart piece by piece. Probably will start by rebuilding the carb. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd recommend a thorough carb cleaning...while the carb is off, remove the reed cage and see if the reeds are cracked.I feel that it's the pilot jet or reeds. If those prove to be fine then I'd say there is a ton of rust/mud under the flywheel.good luck

Try putting the fuel valve on prime when you start after it has sat for a while. I remember our 80 would only start easily if it has a fresh clean air filter. Once it got even a little dirty, all bets were off. And, that air filter is no picknick to change!!! This helped convinced me to trade it in on the Honda 90.
