Z400 swing-arm
#11
Hey Tony, I thought that it was you. I have had real good success on my Z also. The Van Etton race was my first on it, and I had to get use to handling it through tight sections. I hit 3 trees that day. Since then, I have gotten a 2nd and a 3rd. Mike Krachun and Dan Destfano(Both PRO Production Riders) have beat me, but I am getting more comfortable everyweek with the Z. I am racing Mt. Morris this week, but I don't know if I will make OHIO because of busy schedule. I will be racing the whole GNCC Series Next Year, and I look forward to racing against you again at Van Etton.
The swingarm that Burgard made is great by the way. I have a 13tooth front and a 37 tooth rear for increased ground clearance. Also, the added length has allowed me to keep the front end on the ground and get the holeshot every races so far.

CRAEZ
I will be at the Ohio GNCC. I started racing the GNCC's this year at round 5 (Loretta Lynn's) and have race all of them since then. I plan on running all but the first 2 next year on a 300cc GasGas quad in the open A class. GasGas dealer made a heck of a deal on the machine, hope to have it in a couple weeks, maybe before the Ohio GNCC, If I do I'll have it there to display.
I normally show up at the racing Friday afternoon. I have a green Dodge and a all white enclosed trailer, so look me up at the at the Ohio GNCC. BTW I'll have a Cannondale speed with carbon fiber wheels w/ 799 number on it.

craez, harlan, etc. you guys seem to be into your racing seriously, could you give a list of modifications you have done to your Z's and what were the best mods. that you think helped the quad the most. thanks for your time.

My Z is actually pretty stock. I am running all stock suspension which I hope to change soon. I am running a steering dampner which to me is one of th most important things you can do. I have different bars and an EZ pull clutch lever. Prm skids and bumper. I also run footpeg extenders, holeshot front tires with razr rear tires. As far as my engine ,gearing, and jetting it is ALL stock. The next thing that i will do will be front shocks and get the rear shock set up for my weight and riding style.I have surprised a lot of people on this stock Z.It is a great quad.By the way you are going to want to strengthen your tie rods because they are really weak. I slipped some 300 stainless tubing over mine and welded it on ,no problems since then.

Trout,
I don't have a Z400, but here's what I would do to it.
1. Front shocks (Elka triple rate w/ SSD) w/ houser Long travel A-arms
2. Carbon fiber rims w/ holeshots or Razors
3. bumper, grab bar, & full body skid (PRM)
4. Pipe system (Paul Turner Fatboy 4), jeting, & airbox mod.
5. Steering Dampner (Denton rebuildable)
6. Tag T2 handle bars
7. +1 Houser steering stem
8. Steel braided brake lines
9. If money was available I'd have the 440 kit that Duncan Racing does w/ higher rev limiter.
10. Brush Guards
11. Shock wears
12. Nerf bars
See I planned on buying a z400 back in April, but wasn't able to get it in time for Round 5 of the GNCC's so I bought the cannondale Speed instead.

My number is 799 on a cannondale speed. Here's a link to a picture of me on the quad at the last national. Gncc round 10
I also drive a green dodge ram with a 7x14 white inclosed trailer.
BTW my name is Mike and I look forward to meeting you at the race. I'm leaving later to today so I can walk some of the course.
