Corpsie-

You sound like an intelligent person. Maybe a EE?? I do agree - with the right tuning, and a PWM controlled fan / booster (dependent on RPM) it could work. Manufacturability is probably the reason an OEM has not brought something like this to market.

OK - so we shouldn't make fun of someone for honest ideas...

You have to admit though - the JATO remark is funny....

Guys ease up on 'em a little. They obviously still haven't gotten over the hurdle of understanding battery "juice" is not wall "juice". Let them burn some **** up and learn for themselves.

I have heard that companies that make automotive superchargers use an electric motor to test the blower. Why can't they make an electric supercharger? Because the motor that turns those blowers is about 15 horsepower at 230 volts. It can only bring the blower to 6000 RPM and it weighs 300 lbs. And that isn't even making any boost. The 12 volt DC motor needed to turn that blower in an automobile, would be considerable larger than its 220 volt cousin. It would be 16 times larger and heavier. Not to mention it would take a HUGE about 2000 amp alternator. Also, it won't be able to operate at 100% duty cycle.

I read about this months ago in Car Craft and although I don't have my copy anymore, I am sure of these figures since I usually remember interesting stuff like this.

Remember what the engineers told Henry Ford..."A one piece 8 cylinder cast block is impossible to make". It was too...until someone made it.

Remember the 4 minute mile? Everyone said that it couldn't be done, until someone did it, and now even highschoolers are breaking it.

If someone wants something bad enough, they will usually find a way to achieve it.

Ok... I thought this thread was real so I when out and bought a big generator and put it on my back rack... , then I jetted, k/n and ran the damn thing on nitro thinking the more power I could give the hair dryer the happier I've be. All I can say is thank god for that fire extenisher because that damn thing got some hot. I think next time I will put a deepfreeze on it too for the airbox....

How about just putting ice in your airbox? That would cool the charge, dense cool air = more horsepower. It would only last for a half hour, maybe less, but what the hell, It could keep a couple of beers cold too.
