Question for Zilla owners
#1
OK I see everyone wanting to put a cr500 motor into a quad frame. Why not put the zilla motor into a MX chassie? I rode a new zilla a 100 years ago and really liked the power but hated the width so I never bought one. I ride MX and woods trailes, How would the 500 motor work in a lagers or LSR frame? I saw a basket case bike near here, the motor needs a rebuild and the frame is done for but if I could pick it up cheep (not saying the wife will let, dam women I can hear her now you have 4 quads now what could you do w/ another) in your oppinion what would the outcome be? Have you seen this done before.

I ve seen a site where a guy put a zilla motor in an lt 250 frame and one into a 250r frame. I think a company sells a conversion kit to put a zilla motor in a 250r. This was a while ago so I dont know if its what I just explained.

I own an 87 Zilla and in my opinion ( JMO) the Honda CR500 ( 1986 and up ) is a better engine than the suzuki , they are rated with more horsepower 8 - 10 more hp if I am not mistaken , and they had a lot less problems than the Zuks. Don't get me wrong the Zilla is an awsome machine when running good but from my experiences and buddies who own or have owned them is that the 87's can be a real pain in the a$$ ( always tinkering with something ). I have always been curious what a CR500 would be like in a Zilla.

I have a lt500 motor in a lt250 chassis and it works GREAT. I seen a guy put a lt500 in a trx250 chassis too. CT makes pipes for both applications.
