Default Vinson differential prob??

On the Honda forum "make you feel better about your foreman"...if that's possible ... it says they are having probs with the differenials failing both front and rear on the Vinson. It list the high repair cost of over a grand each. I was considering trading the Eiger on one although I really like the Eiger. Is this true?? They also talk about how the suzuki can't take any abuse, which I don't know about that. All I know is my Eiger will outrun and out perform the Foreman in every category. I've ridden those slugs quite a bit but they are usually reliable though. What's the word on this from unbiased sources?? Thanks for any info.

I have over 1000 mi. on each of my Vinsons without any differential problems. I don't know how the word 'abuse' is being defined. I've done lots of rock fields and many very hot dry dusty 80-100 mi day rides. I don't try to abuse or baby the machine though.

I may be wrong, but I would tend to think the Eiger and Vinson would have the same differential.

You do not hear me picking on the 50,80,160, 400 or the 500QR. I just reported what is going on with the Vinson . If there is a problem with any bike or quad that a pattern starts to form I will report it. If I run into parts that do not do what they say I will report it. If a manufacture does not stand behind there product I will report it. Sorry if it makes you upset. Im not pro anything Im just tired of all the sales propaganda out there making people spend there money on things that are made poorly.

JHAM,
Don't fall into the "My next door neighbor' Plumber's best friend's Cousin's Bosse's Kid said" Bull Zitt.
Other manufacturer's Forums will always be full of that crap. Do a search for Dif problems and see what you come up with.
If you see lots of diffrent people saying they personally had problems then there could very well be a problem. If it falls into the "My next door neighbor' Plumber's best friend's Cousin's Bosse's Kid said" then its probably a bunch of bunk. Goto Google.com and do a search for those problems with the Vinson.
Even if one person did have a dif problem, it would not be anything to be scared of. Every quad make and model will have a problem now and then.
If Honda builds 10,000 Rubicons and 2 guys have to send there trannys back to the factory to be fixed, that does not mean Rubicons are crap. And yes, I have seen that on the Honda Forum.
Take it all with a grain of salt and buy what you want.
The only usefull info will come from Vinson owners, not
"My next door neighbor' Plumber's best friend's Cousin's Bosse's Kid said"

That's good advice mega. I was toying with the idea of a Vinson 5 sp so that post kind of skeered me. I've not seen anything on the Suzuki forum to that affect so I would prolly have to disregard the Honda post. Yea, I'd say your right about the neighbors cousin etc. Sounds like someone couldn't afford the payments to me...

Anyway, no offense to 450 owners, they are a solid quad. Happy Holidays to all.

JHAM...I bought my wife a new 03 Vinson 500 5 spd...We just love it...she had a 03 Prairie 360 automatic, but they are too underpowered with the auto, for what we use it for.IMO I would never get any atv with an automatic of less than 500cc...too much reving/engine noise and power loss...I myself have an 03 650 Prairie. another friend has the same..we both enjoy the vinson 5 spd..My next atv to replace the 650 could be a vinson, we like it that much....great quality, and price was decent..they have a rebate going on right now too...I've seen dealers advertize them for around $5600. with out tax/license...go for the vinson 5 spd

that may be a high price for a couple of diffs for suzuki, but what's a Honda diff worth??? I don't even want to know.

Also, out of all the quads I have been around by all different makes and models, I have never heard of any diff problems on any thing newer than 10 years old.
