Oil and Oil Filter
#2
I think the Pennzoil 10-40 would be fine. As far as I know you have to get the filter from the Suzuki (or Kawasaki) dealer. Same filter as for the DRZ400 dirtbike. I have not found after-market filters yet. I got one for around $9 from one dealer, and one for $11 (ripoff) from another dealer. I buy filters for my 400ex from Rocky Mountain ATV for like $2.50 each. You might check with them about filters for the Z400.

i would run golden spectro it is designed for atvs it has addatives for the wet clutch witch pennzsoils dosent and it is ment for the temps are bikes can reach.regular motor oil isnt ment to be used with a wet cluch. and i would go with a dealer oil filter.the golden spectro is 5.50 a quart but it is worth it trust me.unless you dont care about yor clutch.makes them last a lot longer

I would be careful with pure synthetics they can make your clutch slip. Mobile1 makes a synthetic just for 4stroke, wet clutch engines can't remember what its called though. I saw it at Kragens autoparts.
Using an oil that is designed for motorcycles will give you improved shifting and clutch action. Hondas HP4 is an excelent oil as well.
I wouldn't use Penzoil in my lawnmower
