Default LT500 vs LTZ400

I own an LT500 and will be selling it soon. If I've never ridden any sport bikes except the LT500, and banshee's, how impressed/depressed will I be with the LTZ400? Most all my riding is in the sand/dunes

Opinions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, you wont be 'depressed', but it most deffinetly wont have the hill climbing power/torque that the 500 has.

Default LT500 vs LTZ400

One of my friends has a Z400 and It is a nice "little" quad. Little in size to our LT500. I am 6"3" and the Z400 feels too tippy and short for my likeing. If I was not ridding such a big quad I might feel different. We ride all the time at Moses Lake , WA> were there are small sand dues and trail ride to ride and the Z400 keeps right up. My buddy switched from a Honda atc 350x to a new Z400 and love it. The Z400 is a little slower then the Raptor which is slower then the Banshee. I have ridden a stock banshee at Winchester Bay OR. when my LT500 blew a head bolt the second day down there and it was fun to ride. The banshee has some zip when you are "up on the pipe" but has no bottom end compare to the LT500. The new four stroke are different to ride when you are used to riding a big 2 stroke! I was all ways waiting for it to hit the pipe and they just kept pulling to rev limiter (DS650), Smooth power not the hit like from my LT500. Good luck..................

Well I think in would be depressing for me. I love my zilla, I don't think I'll ever sell it.

Dude, you're talking night and day difference!
Not saying anything bad about the Z400, as it's a great little putt putt... You just can't fairly compare the two.

I'd be depressed! The sand robs horsepower, so it's my OPINION that you need as much HP as possible.

Why you sell your LT? What's wrong with it? I'd like to have another one...

Good luck!

I also forgot to mention in my other post, my cousin has a white z400 w/k&n and full exhaust(yoshimura) and man did I ever spank the daylights out of him. The 500 jumps better, handles better and is just flat out faster. It still kinda amazes me how all the old technolegy (2 strokes) beat out all the new four stroke technolegy. Plus if you ask me the frames are also stronger than the z400. My zilla has not had one crack in the frame or has never been welded. I 've heard stories on this board about the axles and frames not holding up on the z's. Just my 2 cents.

Since you are accustomed too arm-stretching power, you may hate the z400. Ride one before buying. On the other hand, you will be riding a lot more on the new Z.....instead of wrenching.

i wouldnt get a z, if anything a DS or i just wouldnt sell the LT. the lt has waaaay more hp. and is faster. and like they said, the frames dont hold up to well on the Z's. but just test them out before you decide.
